Iowa Speedway to Undergo $20 Million Repaving Project

Iowa Speedway in Newton is preparing for a significant $20 million renovation project that will involve a complete repaving of its racing surface. This work is scheduled to start on Monday and aims to replace the existing hybrid surface that was partially repaved prior to the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024.

Driver Ryan Blaney expressed mixed feelings about the repaving, noting the current track's character, while Ryan Preece emphasized the necessity of the project after inspecting the surface. Christopher Bell, another driver, believes the new asphalt could widen the track, enhancing racing opportunities.

The renovation follows Blaney's successful history at Iowa, where he won the debut race and finished fourth last year. The changes are expected to improve the racing experience, although the specifics of the banking adjustments remain to be seen.
