Iowa State Coach Jimmy Rogers Aims for Championship Success

Jimmy Rogers, the new head coach of Iowa State, has expressed strong confidence in his team's potential to reach the Big 12 championship game in his inaugural season. Despite the Cyclones being ranked last in the Big 12 preseason media poll and returning no starters, Rogers believes in the team's ability to compete.

After taking over from Matt Campbell, who left for Penn State, Rogers noted that 55 players transferred out following his hiring. He emphasized the importance of believing in the team's capabilities, stating that he was brought in to win and not settle for second place. Tight end Tyler Fortenberry remarked that the team's confidence aligns with Rogers' vision, highlighting the need to focus on their own goals rather than external opinions.

Rogers previously achieved success as an assistant and head coach at South Dakota State and led Washington State to a bowl bid with a team of many newcomers. The Cyclones have not won a conference championship since 1912, and Rogers aims to change that narrative.
