Ipswich Town Women Aim for Women's Super League Promotion
Maria Boswell, captain of Ipswich Town Women, expressed confidence in the team's potential for promotion to the Women's Super League. The club, known as the Tractor Girls, finished ninth in WSL2 last season after moving up to the second tier in 2025, having been in the fourth tier as recently as 2021.
Under the guidance of manager David Wright, who took over in April, Ipswich currently sits third in the league after five matches in the 2026-27 season. The team has recorded draws against Nottingham Forest and Southampton, followed by victories over Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Sheffield United.
Looking ahead, Ipswich will face second-placed Sunderland at Colchester Community Stadium. Boswell highlighted the quality of new players and the club's ambition, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and consistency in their performance to achieve their promotion goals.
