Irani Cup to be Held in Jammu & Kashmir After 40 Years

The Sher-I-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar is preparing to host the Irani Cup match from October 1 to 5, featuring the Jammu and Kashmir team against the Rest of India. This event is significant as it represents the largest cricket match in the region since the 1980s.

The stadium previously hosted two One Day Internationals, with the last major match occurring in 1986. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has conducted site visits to assist the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association in upgrading facilities to accommodate the event, which will be broadcast live.

Currently, the stadium has a seating capacity of 5,000, and preparations are underway to enhance spectator accommodations. Jammu & Kashmir's team, led by captain Paras Dogra, will rely on key players like Auqib Nabi Dar, who has recently been selected for India's Test tour of Sri Lanka.
