Isiah Pacheco Placed on Injured Reserve by Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have officially placed running back Isiah Pacheco on the injured reserve list, as announced by the team on Tuesday.

Pacheco is currently dealing with a knee sprain and a back injury sustained during training camp, which will sideline him for at least four games. The 27-year-old joined the Lions this offseason and was anticipated to create a strong running back duo with Jahmyr Gibbs following the trade of David Montgomery to the Houston Texans.

Previously, Pacheco spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won two Super Bowl titles. He had suffered a broken fibula in 2024, which impacted his performance. Lions head coach Dan Campbell had expressed optimism about Pacheco's recovery for the season opener, but he will now have to wait to make his debut with Detroit. Gibbs will now serve as the primary running back for the Lions as the 2026 season begins.
