Islam Makhachev Faces Challenge from Carlos Prates Ahead of UFC 336

Islam Makhachev is expected to headline UFC 336, marking the promotion's first numbered event of 2027, where he will defend his welterweight title against Carlos Prates.

Makhachev recently completed his first title defense by defeating Ian Machado Garry in August. Prates, who is seen as a formidable opponent, has secured his title shot following a knockout victory over Jack Della Maddalena in May, positioning him ahead of Michael Morales in the title shot queue.

Despite Makhachev's impressive record and two-division title achievements, Prates will enter the fight as the underdog. Jean Silva, a teammate of Prates, expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Makhachev, suggesting that Prates' striking power will be a decisive factor in the match.
