Israel to Host Republic of Ireland in Nations League Match with Limited Attendance

Israel will host the Republic of Ireland in a Nations League match on September 27 at the Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary. A limited number of Israeli supporters will be allowed to attend, while no away fans will be accommodated.

Due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, both matches in Group B3 will take place at neutral venues. The reverse fixture is scheduled for October 4 in Serbia and will be held behind closed doors, as confirmed by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). The FAI cited operational challenges and safety concerns for this decision.

Calls for a boycott of the games have emerged, but the FAI previously stated that such a move would significantly affect Irish football. Protests advocating for a boycott have occurred outside the Irish parliament, and previous matches have seen disruptions related to the ongoing conflict.
