Jack Grealish Contributes £10,000 to Support Cancer Treatment
Jack Grealish, a footballer, has made a significant donation of £10,000 towards the cancer treatment of Leon Skapars, a 36-year-old father from Southport. Skapars was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer, leaving his family in need of financial support for clinical trials.
Crystal Duffey, Skapars' wife, expressed her shock and gratitude upon learning of Grealish's contribution, which could greatly impact their family's future. The couple had been fundraising to cover the costs of a clinical trial at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas, estimated at $200,000. The diagnosis came after months of misdiagnosis, and despite initial treatments, the cancer progressed to stage four.
Grealish's donation followed a video shared online about the family's situation, and it has brought emotional support from the Everton community. Duffey noted that the donation has made the possibility of accessing the trial feel attainable, providing hope for their family.
