Jack Leiter, a right-handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers, is facing a setback in his rehabilitation following arthroscopic ankle surgery performed in late June. The team has decided to pause his recovery due to biceps soreness, as reported by MLB.com.

Leiter has not pitched since June 18, when he allowed six earned runs over four innings in a game against the Twins. In 2026, he has struggled with a 5.29 ERA across 15 starts. His previous season showed improvement with a 3.86 ERA in 29 starts. The severity of his current injury will determine if he can return this season.

The biceps issue arose during a one-inning rehab outing with Triple-A Round Rock. This development reduces the likelihood of Leiter rejoining the Rangers' rotation in September, especially as the team was considering using him as a reliever. The Rangers are currently managing their rotation without Nathan Eovaldi, who is on the injured list due to elbow inflammation.
