Jackson Smith Aims for Team Canada After Last Year's Cut

Jackson Smith, a sophomore defenseman, is working hard to secure a place on Canada’s World Juniors roster after being the last player cut last year. He is currently participating in the World Junior Summer Showcase.

Following his exclusion from Team Canada in December, Smith had a strong finish to his season with the Penn State Nittany Lions, recording 12 points in the final 15 games. His performance earned him spots on the Big Ten Freshman Team and the All-Big Second Team.

At the Summer Showcase, Smith has already made an impact by scoring in a comeback victory against Finland. This event serves as a crucial evaluation for players aiming to represent their countries at the World Junior Championship. Smith is determined to demonstrate his capabilities and secure a spot on the team for the upcoming 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.
