Jacky Ickx Reflects on Genesis' Progress in WEC Hypercar Program
Jacky Ickx has expressed satisfaction with Genesis' progress in its World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar program, which aims to compete in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours. The luxury brand, part of Hyundai, entered the top class of the WEC this year with two GMR-001 LMDh prototypes developed alongside Oreca.
Despite facing initial reliability challenges in the first four races, Genesis has demonstrated competitive potential, earning points at Spa and achieving sixth-place qualifications at both Le Mans and Sao Paulo. Ickx, who serves as a sporting advisor for Genesis, emphasized the importance of teamwork and the brand's commitment to overcoming obstacles in this highly competitive category.
With a focus on building a cohesive team, Ickx highlighted the dedication of the individuals behind the scenes who contribute to the car's success. He noted that while the ultimate goal is to win, the journey involves significant learning and collaboration among passionate team members.
