
Jacob Fearnley and Other Britons Close in on US Open Main Draw
Jacob Fearnley, along with British players Toby Samuel, Harry Wendelken, and Harriet Dart, is one victory away from securing a spot in the US Open main draw following their second-round qualifying matches in New York.
Fearnley achieved a three-set win over French player Luka Pavlovic, recovering from a break down to take the first set and ultimately winning 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4. He will next face Austria's Jurij Rodionov.
Samuel, competing for his first US Open qualification, came back to defeat fellow Briton Billy Harris with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, setting up a match against Chile's Cristian Garin. Wendelken saved a match point in a three-hour match against Switzerland's Remy Bertola, winning 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, and will play Lithuania's Vilius Gaubas next. Dart also advanced after overcoming American Kristina Penickova, winning 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.
