Jaguars Sign Linebacker Jahlani Tavai

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially signed linebacker Jahlani Tavai to a contract as of Thursday.

In conjunction with this signing, the team waived linebacker Jared Bartlett, who was designated with an injury. Tavai, who is 29 years old, was originally selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. After being released by the Lions, he joined the New England Patriots' practice squad before being promoted to the active roster.

During his time with the Patriots, Tavai signed a two-year extension worth $4.4 million in 2022 and a subsequent three-year extension valued at $16 million before the 2024 season. He was waived by New England in March after appearing in 12 games in 2025, where he recorded 42 tackles and one forced fumble in seven starts.
