Jaguars Trade for Quarterback Quinn Ewers from Dolphins
The Jacksonville Jaguars have strengthened their quarterback lineup by trading for Quinn Ewers from the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.
In the trade, Jacksonville sent a sixth-round pick to Miami. Ewers, who has starting experience in the NFL and a notable college career, played three games for the Dolphins in 2025 after the team was eliminated from playoff contention. He completed 66.3% of his passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns during that time.
Selected by Miami in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Ewers had a successful college career with Texas, leading the SEC with 31 passing touchdowns in 2024 and helping the Longhorns reach the College Football Playoff semifinals. Although he sustained a groin injury during Miami's preseason, the Jaguars are optimistic about his potential as a backup to Trevor Lawrence, aiming to build on their 13-4 record from last season.
