Jahmyr Gibbs Contract Negotiations Complicated by Bijan Robinson's Deal
Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions is currently in contract negotiations, which may be affected by Bijan Robinson's recent deal with the Atlanta Falcons. Robinson secured a three-year extension worth $75 million, including $51 million guaranteed.
NFL insider Mike Florio indicated that while some expect Gibbs to quickly finalize his extension following Robinson's contract, it could actually complicate matters. Gibbs, ranked as the second-best running back by league executives, is holding out during training camp, suggesting he may not be willing to accept a lower offer.
Gibbs' performance last season, where he accumulated 1,839 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns, along with the Lions' decision to move on from David Montgomery, gives him leverage in negotiations. Florio noted that if the Lions fail to make the playoffs again in 2027, it could further strengthen Gibbs' position.
