Jake McCabe Addresses High-Sticking Incident In NHL Game
Jake McCabe of the Toronto Maple Leafs has commented on a high-sticking incident involving Kent Johnson of the Columbus Blue Jackets, which resulted in a serious bruise and cut near his left eye. McCabe does not believe Johnson intended to injure him but stresses that players should be more mindful of their sticks.
The incident occurred during a game where Johnson's stick made contact with McCabe as he skated towards him. Following the hit, McCabe left the ice and did not return, although the Maple Leafs won the match 6-2. Johnson received a double minor penalty for high-sticking.
Despite the injury, McCabe is expected to play in the upcoming game against the New York Rangers. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff for their prompt care and noted that younger players, who often grew up wearing full cages, might be less cautious with their sticks.
