Jakob Ryan Aims to Revive AFL Career After Collingwood Departure
Jakob Ryan, a former defender for Collingwood, is looking to continue his career in the AFL after being delisted following four seasons with the team.
The 22-year-old made his league debut in 2023 but played only one match, where he was injured due to an accidental knee to the head. Despite strong performances in the VFL, he was unable to secure a spot on the AFL roster and was released at the end of the 2026 season.
Ryan expressed his feelings about the delisting process, noting that while he received positive feedback, the competition for positions in the team made it difficult for him to remain. He acknowledged the challenges he faced and emphasized his desire to rediscover his passion for football, stating that his goal is to win a championship and potentially return to the AFL.
