Jalen Hurts Dealing with Blood Clot in Calf, Out for Upcoming Game
The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that quarterback Jalen Hurts is facing a blood clot issue in his calf. This condition arose after Hurts reported being cleated during the Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
An ultrasound confirmed the presence of a superficial blood clot, but Hurts was cleared to participate in the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. He played without restrictions and received treatment following the game, practicing fully the next week.
A follow-up ultrasound indicated movement in the clot, leading to the decision that Hurts will not play in the upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers as the team evaluates his treatment options. Hurts has recorded 933 passing yards and eight touchdowns this season, but his performance metrics are at career lows since becoming the Eagles' starting quarterback.
