Jalen Hurts Faces Extended Absence Due to Blood Clots
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is anticipated to miss the rest of the 2026 season following the discovery of blood clots in his lungs. The situation escalated after he was initially sidelined due to a superficial blood clot in his left calf, which occurred during a game against the Carolina Panthers.
The Eagles reported that Hurts is on blood thinners, preventing him from engaging in any contact activities until he recovers. Despite the severity of his condition, the team stated that his prognosis is very good, and he is expected to make a full recovery. Concerns have arisen regarding the team's handling of his injury and treatment.
Hurts experienced a series of medical evaluations, including an MRI in London, where specialists identified the blood clot. Following further tests, his diagnosis was updated to include deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. The Eagles have placed him on injured reserve, requiring him to miss at least four games, while they signed quarterback Joe Milton as a precaution.
