Jalen Hurts Placed on Injured Reserve Due to Blood Clot
The Philadelphia Eagles have placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve as of Saturday due to a superficial blood clot in his left calf, which will keep him out of action indefinitely.
This decision followed consultations with medical professionals, as reported by ESPN and the NFL Network. Hurts is required to miss at least four games, starting with the upcoming match against the Carolina Panthers, followed by games against the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants.
Doctors identified the blood clot during an ultrasound on October 10, after Hurts sustained a calf injury on October 4. Although he was cleared to play against Jacksonville, a subsequent ultrasound revealed the clot's movement, necessitating further assessment. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee will start in Hurts' absence, with rookie Cole Payton promoted to backup and Joe Milton signed from Dallas' practice squad.
