Jalen Hurts to Miss Remainder of 2026 Season Due to Blood Clots
Jalen Hurts is anticipated to miss the remainder of the 2026 NFL season following the discovery of blood clots in his lungs. The Philadelphia Eagles announced this development after a follow-up scan revealed deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, which were not detected until Hurts was in London.
Initially diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his left calf, Hurts was advised by doctors to avoid sleep for approximately 36 hours before a game against the Jaguars. Despite this, he played and threw for 220 yards and a touchdown. The blood clot was determined to be caused by an injury sustained during a previous game against the Rams.
The Eagles confirmed that Hurts is clinically stable and expected to make a full recovery, although he will be treated with blood thinners and will not participate in contact activities during his treatment. Tanner McKee, a sixth-round pick from 2023, will take over as quarterback for the team.
