Jamaal Williams Works Out for New England Patriots Amid Free Agency
Jamaal Williams, who has not played in the NFL since January 2025, recently participated in a workout with the New England Patriots in Foxboro. This opportunity comes as the Patriots are evaluating their roster following an injury to lead back Rhamondre Stevenson during a recent game.
Williams was among five free agents who tried out for the team, although no signing had been confirmed as of Tuesday night. The Patriots are currently managing their roster with only two active running backs available, TreVeyon Henderson and Corey Kiner, after releasing edge rusher Jose Ramirez.
Williams previously had a standout season in 2022, leading the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns while playing for the Detroit Lions. He later signed a three-year deal with the New Orleans Saints but was released in March 2025 after a less productive stint. At 31, he is eager for another chance in the league and has been actively seeking opportunities since his last season.
