James Hird Reflects on Coaching Process at Essendon Football Club
James Hird has shared that the coaching process at Essendon Football Club, which started in May, has led to the repair of some relationships within the organization.
Although Hird did not obtain the senior coaching position, which was awarded to Mark McVeigh, he noted the benefits of the journey, mentioning that bridges have been mended during this time. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the ASADA saga but expressed optimism about moving forward with the club.
Hird's candidacy faced scrutiny due to his past controversies and a decade-long absence from coaching. Despite this, club president Andrew Welsh has indicated a desire to involve Hird in a different role, potentially reuniting former players like Matthew Lloyd. Hird expressed gratitude for the support from fans and confirmed he would connect with Welsh while allowing McVeigh to settle into his new role.
