James Maddison Discusses Family Life and Injury Recovery
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has opened up about his experience of managing family life with five children while recovering from a serious knee injury. During a period when he was unable to play due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, Maddison's partner gave birth to their second set of twins, which he described as a challenging yet rewarding time.
Maddison missed a significant portion of the 2025-26 season, and he noted that his eldest son, Leo, struggled to remember his presence at games due to his absence. He expressed the difficulty of watching his team struggle creatively while he was sidelined. Despite these challenges, he credited his family for providing a positive distraction during his recovery.
Upon his return to the pitch in May after 375 days, Maddison highlighted the supportive role of new head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who fostered a relaxed atmosphere within the team. Maddison is currently focused on regaining full fitness and is optimistic about the upcoming season, aiming to contribute significantly to his team's performance.
