Jamie Overton Open to Ashes Return if Approached by Joe Root

Jamie Overton, an all-rounder for England, indicated he would contemplate a return to Test cricket for the upcoming Ashes if approached by captain Joe Root. Overton previously played in England's last Test of the home summer in 2025 against India before taking an indefinite break from red-ball cricket.

At 32 years old, Overton has shifted his focus to limited-overs cricket and is currently part of the England squad for a one-day tri-series in Pakistan. He mentioned that England's white-ball captain, Harry Brook, has inquired about his potential availability for Test matches.

Overton clarified that he has not ruled out a return to red-ball cricket entirely, stating that it would depend on the right circumstances. He acknowledged feeling physically exhausted after his last Test match and emphasized the importance of managing his workload effectively.
