Jannik Sinner, the world number one tennis player, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming US Open due to a knee injury.

The 25-year-old Italian has not participated in any competitive matches since securing the Wimbledon title in July. His decision to withdraw follows rival Carlos Alcaraz's announcement of his participation in the tournament after a four-month recovery from a wrist injury.

Sinner, who has been leading the men's tour in 2026, expressed disappointment over his inability to compete, stating that despite efforts to recover, he requires more time to heal from his right knee issue.
