Japan Dominates at World Surf League Event in Mahabalipuram
Japan excelled on the third day of the World Surf League Shore Temple Classic QS 2000 and Pro Junior at Mahabalipuram beach, marking the end of India's participation in the event.
Kishore Kumar and Sheik Davudh were the final competitors representing India but failed to advance from their Pro Junior quarterfinal heats. All eight semifinalists in the men's categories were from Japan, including Ren Okano, Taro Takai, and Sentaro Sakai.
In the Open men's category, Shohei Kato, Tenshi Iwami, Ikko Watanabe, and Sakai progressed to the semifinals, resulting in an all-Japanese lineup. Isabel Higgs from Thailand was the only non-Japanese competitor to reach the semifinals, advancing in the Open women's class and securing a spot in the final against Mirai Ikeda. The competition took place under favorable weather conditions.
