Jason Licht Affirms Support for Baker Mayfield Amid Contract Concerns

Baker Mayfield recently expressed feelings of being disrespected and undervalued by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers regarding his contract situation. Despite these comments, General Manager Jason Licht reassured reporters that the team's support for Mayfield remains strong.

Licht stated that the organization views Mayfield as a franchise quarterback and acknowledged his competitive nature. He expressed understanding of Mayfield's frustrations, emphasizing that both the team and the quarterback are in a good place moving forward.

Mayfield is entering the final year of a three-year, $100 million contract signed in March 2024. Although he received a two-year contract extension offer, it did not meet his expectations for value. Last season, he completed 63.2 percent of his passes, totaling 3,693 yards, with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
