Jasprit Bumrah Out of Sri Lanka Test Series; Auqib Nabi to Replace Him
Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in India's upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka due to an unresolved knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that Auqib Nabi will step in as Bumrah's replacement.
Nabi, a seamer from Jammu and Kashmir, has been recognized for his performance in the Ranji Trophy, where he has taken over 100 wickets in the last two seasons. His selection marks him as the third player from Jammu and Kashmir to receive a senior national call-up, following Parvez Rasool and Umran Malik.
The swelling in Bumrah's knee has proven to be more severe than initially assessed, prompting the Sports Science team at Bengaluru's Centre of Excellence to prioritize his recovery over rushing him back into international play. The Sri Lanka series is set to commence on August 15, and Bumrah's fitness remains uncertain as he continues to experience discomfort.
