Jasprit Bumrah to Miss Sri Lanka Test Series Due to Injury
Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on August 15 in Galle. The decision comes after the Indian fast bowler experienced persistent discomfort in his left knee, following an assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
The BCCI medical team had previously advised Bumrah to receive an injection for his knee issue, which arose during the T20 World Cup. Although he received the injection last month, his recovery is taking longer than expected. Discussions about his potential return for the second Test in Colombo were held, but the medical team has opted for a cautious approach to ensure his full recovery.
Bumrah was initially included in the squad led by Shubman Gill, pending fitness clearance. The selection committee is now expected to name a replacement, with Auqib Nabi being a leading candidate due to his recent performances in domestic cricket and prior experience in Sri Lanka.
