Jaxon Cover Impresses at Prospect Challenge for Ottawa Senators

Jaxon Cover, selected 32nd overall by the Ottawa Senators in this year's NHL Draft, made a strong impression during the Prospect Challenge held in Gatineau, Quebec. Over the weekend, he recorded three goals and four assists in two games, including a standout performance with two goals and two assists in a match against the Montreal Canadiens.

Cover, who typically plays as a right winger, was moved to center for the game on Sunday. His performance drew praise from Belleville Senators coach Andrew Campbell, who noted Cover's dynamic play and ability to navigate the ice effectively. Cover, who began playing ice hockey at the age of 13 after a background in roller hockey, had a successful previous season with the London Knights, leading his team with 20 goals.

The Senators regained the 32nd pick in the draft after a penalty related to a previous trade, which resulted in the team forfeiting a first-round pick in future drafts. This decision was made shortly after the team's ownership change.
