Jayden Daniels Faces Backlash Over LSU Jersey Number Dispute

Jayden Daniels, the former quarterback for LSU, is facing backlash after his lawyer issued a cease-and-desist letter to the university concerning the use of his name, image, and likeness (NIL) along with the reassignment of his jersey number.

The controversy arose when LSU assigned the No. 5 jersey, previously worn by Daniels, to sophomore defensive back DJ Pickett, who had been promised the number by former head coach Brian Kelly. This decision displeased Daniels and his camp.

Clay Travis, founder of Outkick, has suggested that Daniels should dismiss all advisors involved in this situation, including his mother, Regina Jackson, who is also his NFLPA-certified agent and business manager. However, it remains unclear if she played a role in the decision to send the letter. LSU's regulations state that No. 5 was not officially retired, allowing the school to assign it to another player.
