Jayden Daniels Issues Cease-and-Desist to LSU Over NIL Rights

Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, has issued a cease-and-desist letter to LSU, which is focused on his name, image, and likeness rights rather than the recent assignment of his former jersey number, No. 5, to DJ Pickett.

The letter, sent by Daniels' attorney to LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry, clarifies that the legal action does not involve any claim regarding the jersey itself. Daniels' agreement with LSU allowed the school to use his NIL for 180 days following his final game.

Daniels' camp expressed disappointment over LSU's decision to give No. 5 to Pickett, stating that Daniels had hoped his wishes regarding the number would be honored. While Daniels' jersey has not been officially retired, it had remained unused since his departure.
