Jayden Daniels Issues NIL Cease and Desist to LSU

Jayden Daniels, the quarterback for the Washington Commanders and former LSU player, has reportedly issued a cease and desist order to LSU concerning the use of his name, image, and likeness (NIL). This action follows LSU's decision to allow sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear Daniels' former jersey number, No. 5, which Daniels wore during his time at the university.

Daniels' attorney stated that the family is disappointed with LSU's choice to assign his number to another player, emphasizing that they believed his legacy would be honored. Daniels had expressed his desire for his number to remain significant to his legacy at LSU, especially after his achievements, including winning the Heisman Trophy in 2023.

Pickett, who previously wore No. 3, was promised the number during his recruitment. Daniels' attorney warned LSU that any further use of his NIL would lead to legal action. Daniels had a remarkable career at LSU, leading to his selection as the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
