Jaylen Brown Steps into Boxing Ring for First Bout in Nigeria
Jaylen Brown, a new player for the Philadelphia 76ers, engaged in his first boxing match on Thursday in Nigeria as a unique way to prepare for the upcoming NBA season. He is in Africa with his nonprofit organization, the 7uice Foundation.
The event was described as a public sparring session rather than a formal match, with both participants wearing headgear while delivering real punches. During the bout, Brown landed a notable jab on his opponent and also received a hit to the midsection.
Brown's father, Quinton Marselles Brown, was a professional boxer with a record of 33 wins, 18 losses, and 1 draw. Earlier this year, Brown expressed interest in pursuing boxing or UFC fighting after his basketball career, mentioning discussions with UFC president Dana White.
