JBL and Ron Simmons Reflect on the End of APA
JBL and Ron Simmons recently revisited the conclusion of their Acolytes Protection Agency (APA) partnership, discussing the reasons behind their decision to part ways in 2004.
The duo, who initially teamed as The Acolytes in The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness, later transformed into the popular APA, known for their laid-back persona. Their shared background in football contributed to their natural chemistry, which resonated with fans. JBL noted that their success stemmed from their relaxed approach, contrasting with other wrestling groups that often competed for attention.
The APA officially disbanded when Simmons was released on-screen by SmackDown GM Stephanie McMahon. Simmons reflected on the split, stating that it was an opportune moment as they had reached the pinnacle of the tag team division, and JBL was poised for a singles career. Both men expressed hope for a future WWE Hall of Fame induction for the APA, as they are already recognized as Hall of Famers individually.
