Jeanie Buss Challenges Siblings' Plans to Sell Lakers Shares
Jeanie Buss is contesting her siblings' intentions to sell their shares in the Los Angeles Lakers, claiming they require her approval to proceed. Five of the six Buss siblings are reportedly looking to divest their interests in the team.
In a legal letter, Buss's attorney argued that any sale that would remove her as the controlling owner would violate trust and court orders. This dispute traces back to a 2017 court ruling following her decision to dismiss brother Jim Buss from his role as president of basketball operations.
The ongoing family conflict has intensified, especially after the recent sale of the Lakers to Mark Walter, which has led to significant changes in ownership and management. Buss's position as team governor, previously secured through an agreement with Walter, is now uncertain amid these developments.
