Jeanie Buss' Court Hearing on Lakers Sale Rescheduled

The court hearing regarding Jeanie Buss' petition to block her siblings from selling the family's ownership stake in the Los Angeles Lakers has been rescheduled to December 8. The initial hearing was set for November 5 but was postponed after Buss' attorney, Adam Streisand, requested the delay due to prior commitments in Europe.

In her petition, Buss seeks to prevent her siblings—Jim, Johnny, Janie, Joey, and Jesse—from selling their minority ownership share of 17.8% to prospective majority owners Josh Kushner and Bob Iger. The sale is part of a larger transaction where Kushner and Iger plan to acquire majority shares from Mark Walter for $12.5 billion, following Walter's earlier purchase of the team for $10 billion.

Buss has characterized her siblings' actions as deceptive, asserting that she was not consulted about the sale and that any vote to sell would be invalid without her approval. She has been the Lakers' governor since 2013 and must retain at least 15% ownership to maintain that position, according to NBA rules. Other minority owners reportedly support her efforts to remain in control.
