Jeff Bezos Acquires Minority Stake in Liverpool FC
On August 14, billionaire Jeff Bezos acquired a minority stake in Liverpool FC, as announced by Fenway Sports Group.
The deal involves 1892 Holdings, a consortium led by Amit Bhatia, which includes investments from the Mittal Family Trusts, K5 Sports, and EE Capital. Bezos is identified as the lead investor in K5 Sports Fund, and the transaction is estimated to involve about 30% of the club, valuing Liverpool at approximately $7 to $8 billion.
Bhatia expressed pride in investing in Liverpool and highlighted the respect for Fenway Sports Group's achievements. Fenway Sports Group, which purchased Liverpool in 2010 for nearly $500 million, is led by principal owner John Henry. The investment reflects a long-term vision for the club, as noted by Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon.
