Jeff Greenberg, the general manager of the Detroit Tigers, has withdrawn his name from consideration for the general manager position with the Detroit Red Wings, according to a report by Sportsnet.

Greenberg, who has been with the Tigers for three seasons, previously worked as an assistant general manager for the Chicago Blackhawks. His decision comes as the Red Wings continue their search for a new GM following Steve Yzerman's departure from the role in July, which marked the end of a seven-season tenure without a playoff appearance.

The new general manager will face challenges, including addressing captain Dylan Larkin's trade request made earlier this off-season. Meanwhile, the Tigers are also navigating a difficult season, having fallen out of playoff contention after trading pitcher Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
