Jeff Hoffman Undergoes Elbow Surgery, Set to Return for 2027 Season
The Minnesota Twins have announced that pitcher Jeff Hoffman has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. The procedure involved debridement and the removal of a bone chip, with expectations for Hoffman to begin a throwing program in eight weeks, aiming for readiness by the start of the 2027 season.
Hoffman, who will turn 34 in January, was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays during the trade deadline this year. Despite the Twins' struggles in August and September, finishing seven games out of a playoff spot, Hoffman performed well, pitching 18 innings with a 2.50 ERA after the trade.
His contract, originally signed with the Blue Jays, has one season remaining, with Hoffman set to earn $11 million next year, of which the Blue Jays will cover $3.75 million. The Twins are counting on Hoffman's recovery and performance to bolster their bullpen next season, alongside Yoendrys Gómez.
