Jeremiah Estrada Placed on 15-Day Injured List by Padres
The San Diego Padres announced that reliever Jeremiah Estrada has been placed on the 15-day injured list because of a right shoulder impingement. In his absence, the team has recalled right-handed pitcher David Morgan.
This marks Estrada's third stint on the injured list this season, having previously dealt with elbow and knee injuries. While the Padres have not provided a timeline for his return, the nature of the injury could jeopardize the remainder of his regular season.
Estrada last appeared in a game on Monday against the Pirates, where he suffered a loss after allowing a run in the 12th inning. His fastball velocity has been a concern this season, dropping slightly from previous years. Despite these challenges, he has been a key part of the Padres' high-leverage relief group, contributing a dozen holds and one save in 33 appearances. Morgan, who has a 4.50 ERA this season, returns to the team after a rehab assignment.
