Jerry Jones Addresses George Pickens' Contract Situation
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott have urged owner Jerry Jones to ensure that wide receiver George Pickens receives the compensation he deserves. Pickens is set to play under a franchise tag valued at approximately $27.3 million for the upcoming season.
During an appearance on FanDuel TV's 'Up & Adams,' Jones conveyed that Pickens has the potential to secure a more lucrative contract if he performs well this season. The Cowboys acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, where he had a successful first season in Dallas, recording 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.
Despite his performance, concerns about Pickens' character from his time in Pittsburgh have raised doubts about the Cowboys' willingness to commit to a long-term deal. While executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed the team's goal to secure Pickens with a multiyear contract, there are indications that the franchise tag may be used again in 2027 if necessary. Jerry Jones emphasized the importance of Pickens demonstrating his dedication before the team makes a significant financial commitment.
