Jerry Jones Shows Support for Christian Parker Amid Defensive Struggles
Following the departure of Dan Quinn as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator to coach the Commanders, the team has struggled under new leadership. The Cowboys ranked poorly in both points and yards allowed in the last two seasons, prompting the hiring of Christian Parker from the Eagles as the new defensive coordinator.
As of Thursday night, the Cowboys were positioned 30th in total defense and had just suffered a loss to the Buccaneers, allowing 419 yards, including 241 rushing yards. Owner Jerry Jones acknowledged the missed opportunity for improvement and addressed concerns regarding Parker's job security.
Despite the team's challenges, Jones affirmed his confidence in Parker's abilities, noting that he is taking responsibility for the defense's performance. The Cowboys are expected to continue with Parker in his role for the remainder of the season, with Derrick Ansley as the only assistant with prior experience as a defensive coordinator.
