Jerry Sandusky Withdraws from September Hearing, Seeks Federal Relief
Jerry Sandusky intends to withdraw from an evidentiary hearing scheduled for September 8, which focuses on the recantation of an accuser, and will seek relief in federal court.
His legal team is expected to submit paperwork for this withdrawal, although no official motion has yet been filed in the Centre County court records. The hearing was prompted by Ryan Rittmeyer, known as Victim 10 during Sandusky's 2012 trial, who signed an affidavit in 2025 disputing his earlier testimony about being sexually assaulted by Sandusky.
Rittmeyer stated that he lacked a clear memory of the abuse during initial police interviews and alleged that investigators pressured him into altering his recollections. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has expressed skepticism regarding Rittmeyer's recantation. Sandusky, who was convicted in 2012 on multiple counts of sexual abuse, has consistently maintained his innocence and has made several unsuccessful attempts to overturn his convictions.
