Jersey Cricket Aims for ODI Status and World Cup Qualification

Jersey's cricket authorities have set ambitious goals for their men's team, targeting One-Day International status and qualification for a World Cup within the next three years. This initiative follows a narrow miss for the 2026 T20 World Cup, where Jersey lost out to Italy on net run rate.

The strategic plan, which extends to 2029, highlights Jersey's current position at the top of their group as they prepare for the final matches in the ICC Challenge League A. A top-two finish would allow them to advance to the 2027 Cricket World Cup qualifier play-off, where achieving a good performance could lead to ODI status.

Jersey's chief executive emphasized the importance of developing local talent through improved training systems and facilities. The women's team is also working towards breaking into higher ICC rankings, with a focus on nurturing junior players. Plans for a new indoor cricket center are underway to support these initiatives.
