Jets Positioned to Gain from Colts' Trades
The Jets may see advantages from the recent trades made by the Colts, particularly as the Seahawks and 49ers aim for immediate gains from these transactions.
Last year, the Colts, under former General Manager Chris Ballard, traded their 2026 and 2027 first-round picks along with wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to the Jets in exchange for cornerback Sauce Gardner. Following the Colts' decline, the Jets secured tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall pick this year, and the other first-round pick is expected to be higher in the 2027 draft.
The Colts' recent trades, including moving guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers, are likely to diminish their chances of winning upcoming games. Currently, their first-round pick would be seventh overall if the season concluded today. If the Colts trade additional players like running back Jonathan Taylor before the deadline, the value of that pick could improve further. Meanwhile, the Jets hold the 10th pick and have the option to utilize the higher pick from the Cowboys or Packers, acquired through the Quinnen Williams trade, as they seek to end their lengthy postseason drought.
