Jets Release Defensive Tackle Mazi Smith
The New York Jets have announced the release of defensive tackle Mazi Smith, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Smith, who was a first-round draft selection by the Cowboys in 2023, was part of a trade that brought Quinnen Williams to New York. He struggled to secure a position on the roster, falling behind players like Harrison Phillips and David Onyemata on the depth chart, especially after the Jets acquired T’Vondre Sweat and signed Onyemata during the offseason.
During his time in the NFL, Smith played in eight games last season, with only three appearances for the Jets. Over his career, he has recorded 57 tackles, two sacks, and six quarterback hits across 42 games.
