JGR President Addresses Ty Gibbs Media Allegation at Daytona

During the final regular-season race at Daytona, Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing was the focus of media attention. Despite expectations for interviews, Gibbs was engaged in a pre-scheduled meet and greet with his sponsor, leading to a misunderstanding with MRN Radio's Dave Moody, who felt Gibbs refused to speak.

JGR President Dave Alpern intervened, stating that Gibbs was occupied and would have been willing to talk afterward. Moody later acknowledged the busy pre-race schedule, which contributed to the confusion. Gibbs has faced scrutiny in the past regarding his media interactions, but he has also shown improvement in his performance this season.

Gibbs had a challenging finish at Daytona, ending in 34th place due to a multi-car wreck, which affected his standings heading into the Chase. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about his chances in the upcoming races, having secured two wins earlier in the season.
