Jhye Clark Emerges as Geelong's Rising Star

Jhye Clark, selected by Geelong with the eighth pick in the 2022 National Draft, has been compared to the legendary Joel Selwood due to his playing style and leadership qualities. However, Clark faced challenges in his early career, playing limited games in his first three seasons.

After a slow start, Clark transitioned to a halfback position late in the season, where he has thrived, averaging 18 disposals and 6.4 marks in five matches since Round 19. His former coach, Paul Corrigan, noted that while comparisons to established players can create pressure, Clark has the potential to excel in the AFL.

Following his recent performance, Clark secured a two-year contract with Geelong. Corrigan believes that Clark possesses the skills to eventually move into a midfield role, highlighting his strong aerial ability and football intelligence.
